International Lung Cancer Foundation Research Grants

Adequate research funding is key to furthering developments in lung cancer treatment. Through partnering with foundations, non-profits, corporations and individual donors, the International Lung Cancer Foundation (ILCF) provides multiple funding opportunities each year to facilitate scientific advances and save lives. Before beginning your application, please review each section of this website to learn more about our available grants and our process.

Applications for our next cycle will be accepted beginning July 15, 2022. The International Lung Cancer Foundation is pleased to offer the following funding opportunities in our July 2022 Funding Cycle: 

  • ILCF Fellowships: Exclusive to fellows, the Fellowship Grants provide USD 50,000 for a one-year research project. Three Fellowships are given in each award cycle.
  • ILCF Young Investigator Grants: For early-career investigators who are initiating independent research studies, ILCF offers Young Investigator Grants of USD 50,000 to support a one-year research project. Three Young Investigator Grants are given in each award cycle.
  • LCFA/BMS/ILCF Disparities in Clinical Oncology Research Grants in Translational Immuno-oncology: The objective of these Grants is to support research in translational immuno-oncology, undertaken by early-career investigators from under-represented populations and under-funded institutions, that aims to improve the care and treatment of individuals with lung cancers and other thoracic malignancies.  
  • ILCF/Novocure Tumor Treating Fields Research Grants: ILCF has partnered with Novocure to promote and support innovative research on the use of TTFields in the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies.   

To apply:

  1. Review the Grant Guidelines to learn more about the Grants that are currently being offered and determine your eligibility to apply. Your project must be within the scope of the specific funding opportunities available in order to be considered.
  2. If you are eligible, then CLICK HERE to begin your application. (Application portal opens July 15, 2022 at noon MDT.) 
  3. Login using your IASLC Member Portal credentials. If you do not know your credentials, first try resetting your password. If that doesn't work, contact membership@iaslc.org for assistance.
  4. You may save your work and return to your application to continue your work or edit your application at any time prior to submission. Once your application has been submitted, it is no longer editable. 
  5. For detailed information on how our review panel will evaluate and score the applications, read through the Review Process. This is helpful information for you to keep in mind as you are drafting your application.

    We accept applications for Research Grant funding twice annually:

    • January Cycle: January 15-February 28
    • July Cycle: July 15-August 31 

    If any of the above dates falls on a weekend or holiday, the date is automatically moved to the closest business day. 

    The 2022 ILCF Research Grants Program is funded by grants from AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Merck, Pfizer, Sanofi Genzyme, and the IASLC.
